xxxHOLiC Kei 13 ~Repayment~

Watanuki got lost on the way to Yuuko’s place. He was already late because he was hanging out with Doumeki and Himawari. On the street, he met the kid kitsune whose father ran the oden cart. The kitsune gave him oden in thanks for the balloon that he he gave him through the dream buyer. He wondered to Yuuko if it was alright to take it since he gave the kid the balloon as thanks . Yuuko just told her that the kitsune did it because he was really happy. Then he told Yuuko that he had a wish. Yuuko just told him that it was going to cost him, as usual.

The price ended up being Yuuko’s bag carrier when she went out shopping, which really pissed Watanuki off especially when she learned that what Yuuko want to buy was a new refrigerator. In the electronics shop, he encountered Raiju, a thunder god. He was attracted to the electronics shop on the way somewhere and got stuck on a tight corner and couldn’t get out. Watanuki got out and in payment, Raiju made all the broken appliances in Yuuko’s home work again.

Later that night, Yuuko just asked Raiju where he was headed for, Raiju just told her that it was a good place to go that night since the moon was just right. Yuuko said that they might as well get with him and asked Watanuki to call Himawari and Doumeki.

They ended up in the kitsune oden stand, where he met the kid kitsune again and gave him mittens as thanks for a thanks.

What a way to end the season: with a filler! The part about Raiju was only very short and uneventful – they might as well have ended the season with Episode 12. Episode 13 was merely an omage of all the characters that passed through xxx-HOLiC from the first season and the current one – both the still living humans (the Internet lady, the twins, the fortune teller, the winged girl and the two guys who worked in the pharmacy who now both work in the electronics shop who were really supposed to be in Legal Drug)– and spirits (the cat lady who brought the lamp for the demon festival, kuda-kitsune, zashiki-warashi and her minions, ame-warashi, neko-musume and the dream-buyer). I’m not really complaining, the episode was nice but quite unnecessary. Episode 12 had enough closure to end it.

I’m just wondering why Watanuki is starting to talk like Lelouch on this episode (Yes, I am aware that Fukuyama Jun is Watanuki’s seiyuu) when he never did for the last 12 episodes…

All in all, it was a fairly decent season… I like the OP ┌Nobody Knows┘ by Suga Shigao, not so thrilled about the ED ┌Honey Honey┘ by… well, I’m not that into it that I didn’t bother looking it up. I I was extremely disappointed by the Water Gathering arc, hated the Kohane arc, but was OK with the Spider Lady arc and liked the Himawari arc. They really moved a lot of things around that as a fan of both –HOLiC and Tsubasa Chronicles before they made Syaoran out to be a character with a mom complex it pissed me off especially since CLAMP originally made the two stories independent of each other enough since the two series are supposed to be for different demographics (seinen for –HOLiC and shonen for TRC). Anyway, in consideration for that, it was supposed to be no longer necessary for Production IG to change it some more. Well… I have the same opinion of it and the j-drama of Honey and Clover – if you really didn’t know the story, it’s actually good, but it would piss people who do off..

I liked this season more than the first. There was a sense of continuity between the episodes this time around.
