Yuno, a scatter-brained 15-year old goes through entrance exam to Y High School – being late, forgetting her normal pencil case and only bringing her art pencil case. Despite all the problems she encountered, she gets accepted and moves in to Hidamari Apartments, which is across the street from the school and meeting her new neighbors, Miyako, Hiro & Sae (sort of). That’s pretty much it. I don’t want to pick on every little conversation we have since the topics are so random, enumerating it would be too bothersome.
I never watched the first season and don’t want to bother looking for it at the moment because my hard drive is still indisposed – I’m still downloading Animal Yokocho and has Revolutionary Girl Utena next on my list so it’ll be a while if I even choose to pick up the first season. But I picked this up because: 1. I like SHAFT-style animation (actually the only thing I’ve watched from them were the two seasons of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei which I enjoyed but I’m far from being a Zetsutard); 2. I’m a frustrated artist.
My initial impression of the show: cuteness. The show’s main appeal to me is the cuteness factor. This is one of those shows that have no real story but will prey upon my weakness for cuteness with pastel-y colors and I’m sold. The only thing that bothers me is the text they insert in between frames that it’s distracting and makes me have to rewind again and again just to read it – at least it was in English – or was that the subber? I didn’t like the OP and the ED that much though…
So will I watch this? Yes. Will I blog it? Probably not. The things that they discuss in the anime are too random for me to give proper summaries. This is kinda like Lucky Star on art school... I hope.

Hey, who said you could use my chart!
Oh wait, I did.
Thanks to the incredibly unusable internet here on the weekends, you are surpassing me greatly in the new shows department. *is in desperate need to watch more Hidamari Sketch!!*
Definitely recommend the first season, especially to those who love SHAFT's... SHAFT-iness. Hopefully it's not too much of a prerequisite to watching x365, though you'll certainly get to know the characters much better.
@baka-raptor: i will be keeping tabs
@issa-sa: i am only surpassing because i don't have a life ^^
actually, i don't think so the first season is needed - but i will pick it up sooner or later. based on what i saw on the first ep and what i read in wiki, my inital impression is that it's a rehash (or not... i don't know)
Ooo, luckily the first episode occured way before the start of the first series. Since most of the episodes in Hidamari Sketch are rather one off, once you get to know the characters (which the first ep of x365 did a great job of (re)introducing, imho) just sit back and enjoy the Yunocchi :P
goodie! i don't have to agonize myself wondering what i missed the first season. ^^
