Toshokan Sensou 09 ~Here Comes the Promotion Test~

Kasahara Iku, this is your Prince Charming.
.
Kasahara was having a dream about her Prince Charming, asking him to tell her even just his name. But when the prince turns around, it turned out to be Dojo in his training uniform telling her to get back to work. She wakes up screaming.
.
The next morning, Tezuka and Shibasaki were wondering what was happening to her when Kasahara was banging her head on the table. But they, along with Komaki, mistook it for nervousness for the upcoming Promotion Examination - which had a 50% passing rate so she said that it would be a piece of cake. Also Dojo made his entrance by saying that there shouldn't be anything to worry about because he will be supervising her studies. In surprise, Kasahara fell off the chair to the ground and refused Dojo's proffered hand.
.
In a cafe in the shopping district, Shibasaki asked Tezuka to spill out the beans on what he needed, asking her to come all the way there. Apparently, she already figured out that it was the practical exam for the promotion exam which would be reading to children and Tezuka is not good with children. And when Shibasaki jeered at him that Kasahara might outdo him, he panicked. She offered her services to help him because his department often dealt with children for the price of a full course meal, cake set meal... and of course, drinks.
.
Dojo wastes too much coffee in this episode. I wonder how sticky that office is now with all the spilled and spewed out coffee...
.
Back in the office, Dojo was reading to Kasahara about library guidelines, but Kasahara's mind was pre-occupied with her Prince Charming being so close. Then she got all red with embarrassment when she thought back to the time when she told him about her reasons for the joining the library corps (during episode 1). Dojo seemed concerned because she was all red, asked if she had a fever and reached out to feel for her temperature, but she slapped his hand away saying that she was fine. She was just somehow thirsty and went to get some coffee, which Dojo said was too sweet, but she liked it. And she ended up spilling her coffee on a book. She took out her handkerchief to clean up the mess when the letter that Satoshi sent her fell out on Dojo's feet. He picked it up but Kasahara grabbed it from him and just told him that Satoshi was returning the 20,000 yen that he gave him for the dinner. But Dojo said that the letter may have something to do with the strange behavior that Kasahara was having and asked to have a look at it. Of course, Kasahara wouldn't and even raised it over her head to stop him from reaching for it so (LOL) he was jumping a lot. And when he finally got his hand on it, she acted on reflex and threw him to the ground, which rendered him unconscious.
.
Komaki went out of the infirmary and Kasahara asked him if he was ok. As it turned out, it was only a mild concussion that he would be able to get up after an hour. He commented that if she went that far, she can talk to him about what was bothering her. She said that she knew that she always compared Dojo to her Prince Charming and wondered if that it went on, she will end up being hated because he always had an unpleasant look on his face when she talked about her Prince Charming. But Komaki said it was good that he doesn't hate her a subordinate and that she shouldn't worry about anything. But when Kasahara asked why he's always so angry when she mentions her Prince Charming, Komaki asked her what she thought of herself 6 years ago. When she answered "Embarrassing.", Komaki said that everyone feel like that.
.
Kasahara went back to work and avoided Dojo when he finally got up. In class, he asked her again about the letter but she said that it was nothing to worry about. He said something about reflecting on bringing his personal life into work. But Kasahara still wouldn't look at him and kept saying that it was nothing then ran out. Then she ran off. When she returned to the dorm, she was cried on her bed after telling that Shibasaki that she was not hungry.
.
Tezuka. Not good with children.
.
The next day, Shibasaki and Tezuka went to the children's area and she started reading to them (Tezuka included) Snow White where he reflected she was a lot like the witch who stole his watch and traded it in for liquor. When they were done, he said that she was good and she said that all he had to do was look at it from a child's perspective.
.
In the office, Komaki found a notebook full of the notes for the written exam Dojo prepared for Kasahara. And he said that he wasn't planning on giving it to her. Besides, he's being hated by her right now. Then Komaki laughed saying that the two of them are more similar than he thought.
.
This is not how to dress to appear inconspicuous when sneaking into the female dorm.
.
That night, a "mysterious, suspicious-looking man" was lurking out the female dorm. Kasahara came to giving up and saying that she should just go home. And she has packed up her stuff telling Shibasaki that she was going home. But Shibasaki didn't seem to care and told her to take care. Kasahara shouted at her to at least console her even if she had to lie then ran out of the room. But came back when she passed by the mysterious, suspicious-looking man mistaking him for a pervert in the female down. But Dojo unmasked himself. The notebook dropped and Kasahara picked it up and realized that it was compilation of notes for the written exam. He went all tsun-tsun and said that she can throw it away if she wants and didn't want to force it on her. In his head, he was just planning to slip it under her door. Then she started crying and she thought that it was because she thought he hated her and he said that he thought that she hated him.
.
In a more common area, they talked about the origins of the insignia of the Library Corps being a chamomile, which had something to do with Inamine's wife. Then he wished her luck for the exam.
.
Of course, on the day of the written exam, Kasahara still had a little bit of a hard time. In the practical exam, Shibasaki was complimented to be able to capture and hold the children's attention with a Japanese story. On Tezuka's turn, he sat down on the ground with the children and told them Aeosop's The Fox and Grapes emphasizing hard work. Kasahara took a more practical approach with games for the children while telling them about plants. The three friends passed.
.
*I am just fangirling it!!! Waii~!*
.
She came to Dojo and thanked him for all his help. He mentioned that he didn't do that good in the written exam, but got the top for the practical one so she should at least be proud of that. To thank him, she handed him a small frangrance bottle and said that it has a chamomile fragrance. And there and then, she declared that she will be giving up on her Prince Charming and doing everything to please him on the day they will eventually meet. Instead, she would rather be acknowledged by Dojo instead. Dojo just told her to do whatever she wanted and opened the bottle. He said that he liked the smell and she said that she liked it too. Then he started talking about her bringing him to the shop with Chamomile tea and see them bloom to learn something from a teacher of plants. Kasahara interpretted this as a stealthy invitation for a date. So she excused herself and ran off thinking that her heart is about to burst.
.
*Fangirl squeal~!*
.
I have been fangirling this since I downloaded the raw... Actually, I've been fangirling since episode 8. I understood half of what was going on but only a bit of the conversation that they were having. I'm so glad that even thought Ocha! Subs still hasn't released the subs (due to hardware issues), they released the script.
.
I really love the conversation between Kasahara and Dojo at the end of the episode where she declared that she will no longer be thinking about her Prince Charming and just Dojo instead. I thought it was a whole lot better than telling him that she knew that he was her Prince Charming, which would just have been really cheesy in succeeding episodes. I like the way she threw away her childish dreams and just wanted to came head to head with her present. And it's really nice the way that Dojo dislikes the way Kasahara would gush over her Prince Charming because the past him was a representation of things he didn't like about himself.
.
Also, I have come to realized that I may have also been a Japanese rhinoceros beetle in my previous life. I'm a coffee head and most people reacted exactly the same way Dojo do when they take a sip of my coffee. I'm more of a Kasahara standard of sweetness :D

You're right about how Iku managed to convey her "you is Prince, hence I will work to impress you!" feelings to Doujou rather tastefully and without being too explicit to the point of being cheesy. Iku can be so dense at times, but she makes up for it so well at times like these :P

Thank God right... I wouldn't have been able to stand it and reduced it to another high school shoujo series if it had been the case. :D
